Monsen House in Tananger
Tananger has many beautiful buildings - Monsenhuset is the oldest of them
Monsen House in Tananger
The oldest part of the Monsen House dates from around 1730. The property was bought by the Losoldermann - the Chief Pilot - Mons Gabrielsen in 1797, and the property was owned by the Monsens family for more than 220 years.
In the house, from the earliest times, things and court proceedings have been held. In addition, there has been an inn, a country store, a lazarette, lodging for pilots, and it has been rented out in several units. Among other things, several families lived here during the war. The house is idyllically located at the heart of the harbour in Tananger and is the closest neighbour to the Hummeren hotel - a hotel with an idyllic location right on the quayside and in historic Tananger.
