Ormen Lange at Sørnesvågen
The Norwegian sculptor Roland Lengauer's Ormen Lange sculpture is a well-known landmark in Sola.
By the Ormen Lange sculpture in Sørnesvågen, people of all ages gather year-round to hike, play or swim. It's a popular meeting place with a sand volleyball court, soccer field, playground, and nearby facilities for grilling and seating. Ormen Lange is also the starting point for several beautiful nature trails.
The Ormen Lange sculpture is named after the long, narrow ship of the Viking king Olav Tryggvason. His ship was also called Ormen Lange. The sculpture is place partly on land and partly in the water.
Oliver Vogt is the chainsaw artist who created the eight Viking figures placed near Ormen Lange. The Viking figures have been guarding Sørnesvågen since 2016. Both Ormen Lange and the wooden Viking family bear witness to the rich Viking history in this area.
